Established in 1987, the Marvin S. Cone Annual High School Juried Art Show honors its founder and his enthusiasm for young people, the arts, and his timeless effort in making the event what it is today. Inspired by the creativity of art students in Martin County, he encouraged them to pursue even greater achievements by transforming the annual high school art exhibit into an event that truly recognized student’s artistic accomplishments. MartinArts is proud to honor Mr. Cone’s legacy with this annual tradition.

Each year MartinArts presents the Marvin S. Cone Annual High School Juried Art Show to recognize the artistic talents of Martin County high school students. The art teachers at each school select each piece of artwork for entry in the exhibit. It is a highly competitive process; the categories for cash awards are photography, painting, sculpture, mixed media/assemblage, printmaking, and drawing. The awards reception on Tuesday, April 30, is held at the Court House Cultural Center Gallery. Additionally, each high school principal and the school superintendent select pieces to purchase that become a part of a permanent collection at their respective high schools and the superintendent’s office.

Support the creative and artistic talents of high school students in the Martin County area by sponsoring this annual exhibition, which has impacted over 1,500 students since 1987! Sponsorships contribute to enhancing judges’ awards across various mediums, covering professional framing costs, and hosting an awards reception for students and their families. Sponsors also get the chance to acquire a student’s artwork through a Purchase Award, where 100% of the purchase amount goes to the student, and they can present the award at the Awards Reception. Your generosity helps maintain the legacy of this distinctive educational opportunity, inspiring young visual artists in our community.

How will your gift support this legacy exhibition?

$2,500 pays for approximately 50% of the framing expenses.

$1,500 provides the awards given to the students.

$500 provides refreshments for student artists and families
