“We always aim to surprise and delight guests who attend Artsfest, and this year will be no different,” said Nancy Turrell, CEO of MartinArts Foundation. “ArtsFest is truly an extension of the expansive arts community we have on the Treasure Coast, and we love this opportunity to highlight their accomplishments.”

The beloved pre-ArtsFest scavenger hunt for glass turtles, made by Dot Galfond and included as a part of the Office of Tourism’s “Arts & Culture Trail” may get you a free entry or a VIP package

ArtsFest’s favorite CHOPPED takes place during the day on Saturday.

Watch talented students and professional artists create outstanding chalk art that is a part of a grant from the State of Florida, Division of Arts & Culture to bring new art educational experiences to middle school students, which expands MartinArts programming into this vital age range. Schools and community groups will compete for awards for works that will being created on Saturday morning and judged on Sunday afternoon.

Sunday will feature “Art Speaks,” in which a dozen-plus in-person competitors will be vying for the best-spoken word poetry award. Judges will be selected from the audience. Spoken word poet Stella B will organize the day’s activities and liven up the day. Registration is filled, but a wait list is being maintained.

What is a poetry slam?

Think of a slam as a live poetry competition. Like an open mic, people perform their work to an audience. However, in a slam, there is a competitive element – invited judges (usually people who are not used to seeing a slam) score readers on how well a poem is written and delivered, with the top scorers going through to the next round.  In this slam, there will be three rounds: the first round is open to all poets (12-15). However, in the second round, 8 people get through (the top 8 scorers as determined by the judges), and 4 through to the third and final round. Each read a new poem each round to determine who will be Slam Champion!

Volunteers are the only way ArtsFest happens each and every year. The team planning the event is driven by volunteers. During the weekend, more than 100 people serve in roles that would have salaries of tens of thousands of dollars. Simply put, ArtsFest wouldn’t happen without volunteers.
