The Studios of Key West will feature  Jane Lawton Baldridge in a Solo Exhibit, “Oceana Phenomena: Sea Level Stories Key West Edition”.  A local artist whose artwork has been showcased as far away as the Republic of Slovenia, Baldridge is an award-winning sailor, licensed boat captain, and accomplished mixed media artist. The public is invited to an Opening Reception on Thursday, October 6. Enjoy an Artist Talk and Reception on Wednesday, October 26.  This exhibit continues through October 27, 2022. Along with the Gallery talk October 26th, Baldridge is working with Schools at the Studios to arrange for Montessori classes to attend the exhibit and create project inspired by the exhibit.  The Rickie Report shares the details and some sneak peeks.

Over 950 square feet of gallery space will display approximately 25 of Baldridge’s Sea Story paintings and 20 Sea Level Story mannequins along with her video Wisdom of the Waves.

Baldridge uses the power of art to bring awareness to the mounting threats of flooding and sea level rise with the goal of inspiring our community to unify in becoming more resilient to these issues while solutions are sought. Large abstract seascape paintings that portray sea states from the perfect tranquil snorkel day to the powerful waves borne on a storm are displayed alongside sculptural figures covered with recycled navigational charts reinforcing the immediacy of the crisis at hand.
