GardensArt Of Palm Beach Gardens Art In Public Places Presents “Touched By The Sun” By Watercolorist John Bowen August 24 – November 29, 2022

GardensArt, a City of Palm Beach Gardens art in public places program, presents “Touched by the Sun”, by watercolor artist, John Bowen . The exhibition runs August 24-November 29, 2022, at the Palm Beach Gardens Tennis & Pickleball Center. John’s uplifting paintings bring brightness and joy to viewers through every day scenes.  The Rickie Report shares the details and some sneak peeks.

“Bikes at the Art Show” by John Bowen




John Bowen was born in New York City and spent the next 19 years there and in North Jersey, before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1961. He was an illustrator in the service for eight years, including a one-year tour in South Vietnam, graphically documenting Airlift Operations in 1968.

John self-published an illustrated memoir in 2013. The book, “Eleven Months and Nineteen Days”, was awarded a Silver medal by the Florida Authors and Publishers Association, in 2014. In 1969 Bowen left the Service, moved to South Florida, and went to work in the Advertising Art Department of the Miami Herald.

He spent the next 40 years working in the newspaper advertising business, before retiring. Throughout all those years, Bowen was creating paintings in watercolor for his own pleasure. Bowen now paints full time and is a signature member the Florida Watercolor and Gold Coast Watercolor Societies.

Founded in 1989, GardensArt is a unique program that exhibits the work of locally and nationally recognized professional artists and photographers. It was established to increase the opportunities for cultural exchange between artists and the community.
