Wellington Art Society Announces Reception With Art Scholarship Recipients On May 11th And Kicks Off A New Virtual Fine Art Show & Sale “Spring Bling”
The Wellington Art Society (WAS) features 2022 Art Scholarship recipients, Sofia Vega and Ashley Forkey at its Wednesday, May 11 meeting, held at the Wellington Community Center. The public is invited to this free event. Please note that CDC guidelines will be observed. WAS invites you to a new virtual juried exhibit, “SPRING BLING” available now through June 30, 2022. Over 70 artworks by 17 artists are featured. View artwork in several ways, including moving yourself around the exhibit using the arrows that appear on screen or by using the cursor. A guided tour is also available as an option. Proceeds from sales support WAS Scholarship Fund. WAS has awarded over $120,000 in scholarships to some of the brightest and most creative students within our community. The Rickie Report shares the details and some sneak peeks.

The Wellington Art Society is thrilled to present Art Scholarships to two deserving young artists at their May 11, 2022 meeting. The meeting and presentation will take place at the Wellington Community Center, 12150 Forest Hill Blvd, Wellington. They will open with a meet and greet at 5:30 pm, followed by the member spotlight and a brief meeting. The meeting will conclude with the presentation of scholarships to two very talented high school seniors. The public is invited to attend. COVID-19 protocols will be observed. The students who will be receiving scholarships this year are Ashley Forkey of Saint Andrew’s School and Sofia Vega of Boca Raton Community High School. The scholarships will be presented by WAS Scholarship Chair, Liza Karsai. Each student will have the opportunity to share about their work and plans for the future. The Wellington Art Society (WAS) has been supporting the advancement of the arts in the Palm Beach County community since 1981 with the intent to encourage young artists to pursue careers in the fine arts, provide programming that expands art in public places, and make art accessible within the community daily.

The WAS Scholarship Program was established in 2001 to provide scholarships to talented young artists for art related College and University expenses and tuition costs. Over the past twenty-one years, WAS has awarded over $120,000 in scholarships to some of the brightest and most creative students within our community. Past recipients of the WAS Scholarship have gone on to become educators, illustrators, authors, curators, artistic directors, professional artists and art advocates.

The Wellington Art Society is pleased to announce a virtual art show called “SPRING BLING”. This exhibit features 17 artists and 70 original works of art by WAS members, including photography, digital art, mixed media on hand-made paper, sculpture, and an array of paintings using various mediums. All artwork is for sale and a portion of the proceeds goes toward WAS Scholarship and Outreach Programs.
