DECEMBER 4, 2021
&
JANUARY, 2022 SCHEDULE:
“It’s in the Bag Workshop”
December 4, 2021 11 am – 3 pm $35
Bailey Contemporary Arts Center
This workshop is led by Artist in Residence Andrea Huffman. Reduce your need for plastic while making a fashion statement at the farmers market or beach, with your own original fabric tote bag. Each participant will design a large canvas zipper tote bag using various fabric paints, photo transfers, stamps and stencils. A variety of techniques will offer a wide range of options to create a functional work of art!
“Fabric Fusion Collage Workshop”
January 8, 2022 11 am – 2 pm $30
Bailey Contemporary Arts Center
This workshop will be led by Artist-in-Resident Andrea Huffman. Participants will create a “painting” from fabric, based on a drawing, photograph, or their own design. Following a brief discussion about color choices and composition, shapes will be cut out from various fabrics that have been treated with an iron-on adhesive. These pieces will be arranged in the composition and ironed on to a background fabric. The design can be embellished with hand-embroidery or fabric markers. The completed fabric collage will be matted and ready to frame.
“Fortunes and Love Letters Workshop”
January 29 11 am – 2 pm $30
Bailey Contemporary Arts Center
This workshop will be led by Artist-in-Resident Andrea Huffman. Celebrate Valentine’s Day and the Lunar New Year with tea and fortune cookies, while you create a unique mixed media artwork. After a brief discussion about color and composition, we’ll incorporate the Fortunes, along with a variety of postage stamps and an assortment of Valentine ephemera into collages on a canvas panel. Color will be layered by applying paint with stencils, sponges and rubber stamps. Original works of art can be a beautiful reminder of the Words of Wisdom in your fortune, or an expression of admiration for special someone.

Introduction to Drawing and Art History
Third Saturdays 10 am – 1 pm $25
Bailey Contemporary Arts Center
Introduction to Drawing and Art History is a monthly 3-hour workshop, where students learn how to create compelling still-life images with charcoal or graphite inspired by the composition, technique and observation of specific periods in Art History. Each session focuses on short fragments of the history of art, creating a quick and dynamic timeline that reviews the most relevant elements and influences in art, while enriching the mind and providing inspiration for still-life compositions. While it is recommended to take various workshops to enhance the art history and technique aspects of each lesson, students have the option to take workshops independently, for each session is designed to work autonomously reviewing basic elements of drawing, perspective and composition.
