Armory Art Salon Features Multi Media Artist Khaulah Naima Nuruddin On Tuesday, March 3
The Armory Art Center brings Khaulah Naima Nuruddin to the next Art Salon, led by Elle Schorr on Tuesday, March 3. The public is invited to hear Khaulah speak about her meticulous, laborious drawings, paintings and installations, which are representative of the thousands of hours beyond the so-called “norm” of work that a Black woman must manage to gain freedom and success. These dynamic works are quiet and intense, offering the viewer privileged access to an experience that may not be their own. The Rickie Report gives you the details and some sneak peeks. Kudos, Elle, for bringing us internationally, nationally, and locally based artists who help us better understand the creative process!

“No Trespassing” by Khaulah Naima Nuruddin
Khaulah Naima Nuruddin is a multimedia artist from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who lives and works in South Florida. Nuruddin’s work explores the intersections of personal expression and social commentary by initiating public discussion of race, sexuality and the social transfer inherent to her work as a Black visual artist. Her current SOLO exhibition, at under the bridge / Bridge Red in North Miami, is titled “Not For Sale: Not Today” through March 1. This new work, curated by Tayina Deravile, addresses the complexities of being a Black woman navigating social systems that are deliberately designed to oppress. It is a celebratory acknowledgment of the work Black Women do to survive and thrive beyond barriers. She is also one of three artists who’s work is on view in “Chandelle” at Art’s Up, in FATVillage, NW 1st St., Fort Lauderdale. It can be seen during last Saturday Art Walks through June 27.
