Munirah is a batik artist whose art workshops represent a tribute and a commitment to the authentic culture of her birthplace Malaysia. She grew up in northern Malaysia, attended boarding school in Kuala Lumpur, and later received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of Miami.  She lives in Miami and focuses on batik education, highlighting the process and tools of different cultures.

In addition to her home studio she travels to various venues in South Florida. She works with all ages and her students find her teaching therapeutic and transformative. Although she teaches a variety of classes, one of her most popular is a batik scarf class and an immersive batik workshop using batik caps (stamps). She continues to travel extensively and learn from masters in Malaysia, Indochina, Vietnam, Laos, Uganda and beyond.

In 2019, she was a Featured Artist at the Spoken Soul Festival which took place at the Adrienne Arsht Center For the Performing Arts in Miami. She focuses on batik education highlighting the batiking process and tools of different cultures throughout the world.

She hosts one of the most popular and top-rated Airbnb Experiences in Miami. In addition to her home studio, she brings her workshops to various venues throughout South Florida.
