Lighthouse ArtCenter Announces Expansion Of Jewelry And Glass Studio With New Classes, Workshops, Select Fridays Plus Hosting January 2020 International Traveling Event, “Radical Jewelry Makeover”
The Lighthouse ArtCenter announces the expansion of the jewelry and glass studio. They are offering more classes, workshops and Select Friday events in both disciplines. The ArtCenter is also excited to announce that they will be hosting the international traveling event Radical Jewelry Makeover presented by the Ethical Metalsmiths in January 2020, the first time it will be held in Florida. “Glass Wave” by Carolyn Austin
Whether you are just curious to see if making jewelry or creating a beautiful piece of art glass is something you’d like to try or using the expanded studio space to work on your personal artwork, there are many opportunities to utilize the new equipment and working space.
Select Fridays are a fun way to try your hand at a new artful experience and we have many for jewelry and glass. There are Technical and Conceptual Workshops, classes and Open Studio times available.

Carolyn Austin
Carolyn Austin has recently joined the ArtCenter faculty teaching and facilitating the fused glass classes, workshops and studios. Carolyn has been professionally designing and creating glass art for over 25 years in South Florida as owner/artist of Unique Glass Art. She specializes in custom glass etching and carving for residential and commercial areas as well as yachts. She combines etched and carved glass with fused glass in a wide variety of styles from tropical Florida scenes of wildlife and intensely detailed ocean life to contemporary, modern and traditional designs creating unique one-of-a-kind art glass. Carolyn brings this experience and design know-how to her fun and inventive classes at the ArtCenter. She has work in many area homes and can also be found in local galleries as well.
Glass Select Fridays 6-8 pm

Learn how to create a one-of-a-kind, gallery quality fused art glass with instruction in a casual relaxed atmosphere. Supplies included. All levels welcome.
June 21 – Fun with Faces – Learn about fusing glass working with stringers, frit and a variety of glass to create unique faces into 5” x 5” dish or a piece of art glass.
July 26 – Geometrics – Learn about fusing glass working with stringers, frit and a variety of glass to create a unique 5”x 5” dish or piece of art glass.
$50 per person All levels welcome. No experience necessary.

Glass Workshops
“Frit Happens” Saturday, June 15th 10am-1pm
Learn to utilize glass frit to create a wide variety of designs in your fused glass art piece. You will have 12” x 12” piece of glass and a variety of colors and sizes of frit to work with to create a dish, bowl or hanging art piece. No experience necessary. $125 member/$150 nonmember
“Sail Away with Summer” Saturday July 20th 10am-1pm

Glass Fusion Open Studio (Members Only)

Glass Fusion Workshops
Wednesdays, June 12, 19, July 10 or 17 from 2 – 4 p.m.
Learn about fusing glass into dishes, bowls or wall art. Using a wide variety of glass you will create a 9” x 9” piece of glass art with instruction in a casual relaxed atmosphere. No experience necessary. $75 member/$100 nonmembers

Led by award-winning jewelers Tracey Roedl and Maria Tritico, classes cover learning the basics to honing your skills, all in a creative and imaginative atmosphere.
Tracey Roedl
Tracey Roedl’s diverse experience in the jewelry industry spans nearly four decades. Studies with The Gemological Institute of America have earned her a GIA Diamonds Graduate Degree along with Pearl Grading and Colored Stones Certificates. Tracey’s studies include jewelry design and fabrication at University of Wisconsin, design with GIA, high-fire enameling at The Colorado Rocky Mountain School, and a goldsmithing apprenticeship with one of Aspen’s top jewelry designers. She has taught jewelry making at Martin County Continuing Education, and finds sharing her experience, love of metalsmithing, and the inspiration from her students an absolute joy.
Maria Tritico
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Maria Tritico is a Metalsmith, Art Instructor and Art Therapist currently residing in Tequesta, Florida. She received her BFA from Texas State University in Photography and in Studio Art with an emphasis in Metals/Jewelry before receiving her Masters of Art in Art Therapy at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Maria exhibits in local, national and international art shows and during her years working in arts education and art therapy, Maria has worked in a variety of settings which span age ranges 3 – 101 years of age and population types from assisted living/skilled nursing care, to youth and adult classes to incarceration. Maria is currently growing the Jewelry/Metalsmithing and Art Therapy departments at the Lighthouse ArtCenter in Tequesta, FL.

Make a unique set of bangle bracelets. Using a combination of copper, silver and gold filled wire, each student will form, solder, texture and patina their individualized set of bangles.

Introduction to Jewelry and Metal Smithing
Instructor: Maria Tritico
Mondays, 6 – 8 p.m. $175 per session
Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of metalsmithing through instructor demonstrations, one-on-one instructions and hands-on experience with hand tools, flex shafts and torches. Beginner, ages 13+.
Metalsmithing/Stone Setting/Beautiful Jewelry
Instructor: Tracey Roedl
Wednesdays, 10 a.m. – 1 pm. $175 per session
Learn more about design, soldering, detailed piercing, carving, forming, filing and polishing metal. Intermediate to advanced.
Linear Designs and Stone Setting
Instructor: Maria Tritico
Wednesdays, 6 – 8 p.m. $175 per session Intermediate to advanced.
While exploring linear designs, you will also make prong, bezel and tube settings for irregular stones, sea glass or found objects to complete a pendant, ring and/or bracelet.
Jewelry Open Studio
Fridays, 1 – 4 p.m. $10 per person. Open to any member currently enrolled in a jewelry class.

The Lighthouse ArtCenter, a 501c (3) not-for-profit, was founded in 1964 by eight artists and Christopher Norton. In the last 54 years it has grown to include a gallery, school of art, gift shop, and art supply store.
