6th Annual “ENDANGERED” Art4Apes Fine Art And Photography Exhibition Invites Everyone December 5 – 8 During Art Basel Week

 The 6th annual ENDANGERED: Art4Apes Fine Art and Photography Exhibition, celebrating the beauty found in endangered and threatened species, or habitats, will return to the Dade Heritage Trust.  Part of Art Basel week, this exhibit runs  Wednesday, December 5 to Saturday, December 8. It features special programs including classes, live paintings, and discussions, as well as a showcase of the finest work entered in the contest. Proceeds from the contest and exhibit benefit the Center for Great Apes, an award-winning, Florida-based, 501(c)(3) registered sanctuary for orangutans and chimpanzees.  The Rickie Report shares the details here and we look forward to seeing you at the Opening Reception! Meet Rickie Leiter, Judge and Founder of The Rickie Report and ENDANGERED Ambassador. Rickie Leiter has always been fascinated by the creative process. A former art consultant in her native Massachusetts, her instinct to connect with creatives in her new home led her to found The Rickie Report in 2011.

Flute performance by classically trained flautist and arts educator Susan E. Schiffman. Grammy nominated flautist and music educator, Susan Schiffman, was formally trained in music performance and education in France, Italy and New York.

6-9 pm  MY ART: Cocktails with three of Florida’s most interesting emerging artists discussing their art and inspiration:

Irina Grammatina

Russian-born Irina takes inspiration from her world travels to paint on silk her exquisite designs reflecting her love for nature, wildlife and wild places. Her elegant pieces of wearable art are true collectibles.

Agata Ren

German-born Agata is on a mission to create artwork depicting how human interaction brings about the endangerment of species. Her vibrant and unique work has featured in exhibitions and public installations.

Linda Frost

Linda’s paintings closely resemble photographs and are often mistaken for such, however, she hesitates to label herself as a Photorealist. She feels that it’s the combination of her subject matter, the composition of her paintings and her process that separates her from Photorealism in the literal sense.

Kirsten Hines

Focused on conservation and nature travel, Kirsten is a writer, photographer, and environmental educator with an M.Sc. in biology.

Phoenix Marks

For Phoenix the extraordinary beauty of nature and wilderness are a wonder. Attempting to fix them in time is her passion; photography is her art.

Ted Schiffman

Ted Schiffman has been a photographer for 46 years. He developed an interest and direction in color photography as a natural outlet for his many years of training and study as an artist.

ENDANGERED: Art4Apes was launched in 2012 to raise awareness of issues facing animals and the environment. Each submission reflects the interpretation of “endangered,” as it applies to animals, nature, the environment, and plant species, in three artistic categories: Fine Art, including sculpture, jewelry, and wearable art; Photography; and a special category exclusively for young artists. All entry fees for the contest and the proceeds from art sales during the exhibition go to the Center for Great Apes, a 4 Star Charity Navigator rated non-profit, sanctuary for orangutans and chimpanzees.

 

 

The Center for Great Apes is an extraordinary facility located in Wauchula, Florida whose mission is to provide a permanent sanctuary for orangutans and chimpanzees who have been rescued or retired from the entertainment industry, research, or the exotic pet trade. The sanctuary encompasses over 100 acres and is home to 21 orangutans and 28 chimpanzees. Because of the generosity of artists, sponsors, and patrons that participate in the ENDANGERED: Art4Apes Fine Art and Photography Contest exhibition, the Center’s residents can continue to live and thrive with dignity in a safe, and enriching environment.
