Mandel Public Library Of W. Palm Beach Opens New Comprehensive Studio Space For Creatives, Studio 411

The Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach is opening a new, comprehensive studio space for creatives on the second floor, named Studio 411, to support its popular and growing range of arts programs.  The new studio was formed to create one central location for artistic adults, children and teens to create, explore, and learn about a variety of arts and crafts from painting, drawing and sculpture to crocheting, soap-making and jewelry-making.  Studio 411 will officially open on Wednesday, September 5, 2018  with a ribbon cutting celebration followed by a studio orientation, just in time for the library’s fall programming. Patrons are encouraged to attend a studio class or stop by and see the new space. The Rickie Report shares the details and can’t wait to see what new creations are born through this exciting effort!

Studio 411 aims to enhance the library’s arts programs by providing a variety of services that encourage and develop creativity, and by cultivating the local artist community where amateurs and experts can interact and collaborate with each other.  Library staff devised the clever name, which was a nod to both the artist studio concept and the library’s address on Clematis Street (as well as the 4-1-1 information reference).

As with all library programs, all of the services, most tools and materials available at Studio 411 are completely free of charge for patrons during classes. Some of the services that will be available include:

  • Hands-on art classes for a variety of art forms and mediums

  • Art lectures about history, trends, collections and more

  • Craft lessons and classes

  • Mentoring amateur artists by local professionals

  • Live art observations and performances

  • Collaborative art projects

  • Art drop-in center – studio free time to work on independent projects

  • Training for creative entrepreneurs – marketing, business, professional growth, etc.

Arts programming at the Mandel Public Library is generously funded by the West Palm Beach Library Foundation, and the West Palm Beach Arts & Entertainment District.  The library made use of capital improvement funds to convert this old IT space into a collaborative community studio benefitting staff and patrons.  The library continually shifts and expands its programs and building areas to meet the growing community needs and interests.  Most recently, the library opened Square One, a dedicated space to help disconnected young adults with free services including mentoring, technology, career development and training, academic advancement, and more.

Please RSVP to Joyce Pernicone at 561-868-7782 or jpernicone@mycitylibrary.org if you are able attend this special ribbon cutting!
