Florida artist, Laurie Snow Hein refers to her style as “Old-World Realism,” with a technique that often gives way to abstract or impressionistic. An award winning artist and illustrator, she is published and licensed worldwide. Laurie will be one of the Featured Artists at “Equine” Exhibit curated by the Wellington Art Society.  The public is invited to the Reception on Saturday, March 10th at the Wellington Community Center on Forest Hill Blvd.   Enjoy light refreshments and special door prizes.  The Rickie Report shares the details and some sneak peeks of Laurie’s equine artistry. This Exhibit features fifteen artists including a premier showing of Laurie Snow Hein’s painting “North Dakota Mustangs at Teddy Roosevelt Park”. Laurie tells The Rickie Report, “Half of all proceeds of my horse paintings will go to a Wild Horse Preserve of mine or purchaser’s choice. Purchaser will write out the check themselves on the spot. The donation is tax deductible so I will send in the check and the buyer gets a receipt. A win for us and a win for the beautiful horses I love. This month I submitted three of my horse paintings to the Wellington Community Center gallery for the Winter Equestrian Art Show. From now until April they will be displayed.  My collection of wild horse paintings is my way of helping preserve these truly amazing animals in their natural, protected environments”.

Laurie shares, “Horses are very close to my heart and I wanted to take the time out to explain why.  Like many children, I loved horses as a young girl. Television shows like Roy Rogers, The Lone Ranger and Westerns were always my favorite…because of the horses, of course. From my first pony, a gift from my grandpa at age eight, to my beloved “Spice” (a haflinger who is still my companion on frequent rides), I have seldom been without a horse”.

In 2010, Laurie spent a week in North Dakota with her daughter to visit the state parks and to also visit a horse sanctuary. “I wanted to see these magnificent animals for myself; to observe their natural beauty and behavior, unspoiled by the intrusion and control of man. My lifelong love affair with horses grew to be a serious, focused interest in the preservation and protection of the remaining wild herds in our country. Fascinated by these wild horse herds, I began capturing their magnificent, unspoiled beauty and behavior in a series of paintings. My first oil, a group of horses in full gallop, sold quickly.  Pryor Mountain and other non-profit wild horse reservations keep complete records of the herds via annual roundups. The sanctuaries always need funds to provide health care and to assure genetic integrity, especially of the mustang herd at Pryor Mountain”.

Laurie teaches art classes, conducts workshops and displays her art in top festivals throughout the country. She is listed in “Who’s Who in American Art”, “Who’s Who in America” and “Who’s Who Of American Women”. She has painted executive portraits for Furman College, Palm Beach Atlantic College and St. Vincent Hospital. Avon Company commissioned her to paint the Mothers Day plate in 2009 which sold out. Her newest collection “Freedom’s Spirit” was started to raise awareness of the plight of the wild mustangs of America.

Laurie is best know for her Florida Tropical Landscapes. In addition to teaching art classes and conducting workshops, she is in demand at the top art festivals in the nation. Her art, highlighting the Southern Landscape, Everglades and Tropical Paintings, includes oceans, beaches, water birds, palm trees and tropical plants.  Her paintings are alive with sparkling light and vibrant color. She is also well known for creative Oil Portraits of pets, children and adults that capture personality and special moments, Laurie’s portraiture is detailed and traditional, yet alive with a contemporary blend of color and style.

Laurie’s art work appears in open and limited edition prints with a large following. Her designs have been licensed for home decor and gift products for such companies as Current Inc., Home Interiors, Mohawk Home, Leanin’ Tree, Conimar, Weavetec, and Home Interiors Inc. You can find her licensed products in WalMart, Target, Cracker Barrel, and specialty shops of all kinds. She is a successful oil painter, illustrator, art instructor, portrait artist and a member of the Atlanta Portrait Society and the Portrait Society of America. Laurie is also listed in Who’s Who in American Art, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who of American Women. The Wellington Art Society is a non-profit charitable organization in its 37th year.
