“Drawn To The Arts” Brings International And National Icons To Lighthouse ArtCenter This Summer

The Lighthouse ArtCenter has outdone themselves with their upcoming summer exhibit, “Drawn to the Arts”. Fifteen Children’s Picture Book Author/Illustrators (the list reads like Who’s Who in American Picture Book Award Winners!) will share 20 pieces of art each! The Exhibit runs June 8 – August 11, 2017.   The Opening Reception takes place on Thursday, June 15th.  In addition to the exhibit, small groups (including organizations) can sign up for docent-led tours. This stunning exhibition will shine a light on some of the finest Children’s Book Authors and Illustrators, with our Summer ArtCampers enjoying the unique opportunity to interact with the magical process of children’s picture books.

 

 

Curator, Janeen Mason tells The Rickie Report, “Indians and robots, monsters and bunnies, heroes, history and humor.  The Lighthouse ArtCenter is brimming with illustrations by artists that we know and love.  Caldecott, Newbery, Coretta Scott King, Purla Belpre and Bank Street Book of the Year Award Winners – the original artwork from America’s bestselling author/illustrators are here in LAC’s world class exhibition right in the heart of Tequesta”!

Clippy. The helpful little paper clip character that pops up when you’re working in Microsoft Word? Yes. You either love him or hate him.)

You might know it as the story of the two boy penguins who adopted an egg and raised the hatchling at the New York Aquarium.)

He’s worked for the New Yorker, etc. etc. His work is magical realism, and it definitely has roots in Central/South America – you’re going to love it.)

We will have E.B. Lewis here at Lighthouse ArtCenter teaching workshops in watercolor to young adults.)
