Armory Art Center Offers Dennis Aufiery Retrospective, “Chasing The Sun”

The Armory Art Center will present a Retrospective Exhibition of Dennis Aufiery’s artwork.  “Chasing The Sun” celebrates the range of work created throughout Dennis’ life.  As a community, this is a touching tribute to an artist, teacher and friend to so many.  The Opening Reception takes place on Saturday, December 10th.  The Rickie Report shares the details here.
















Dennis received his Master of Finer Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania where he studied with Neil Welliver, Alex Katz, Alfred Leslie, Rackstraw Downs, Yvonne Jacquette and Rudy Buchardt, among a number of New York artists influenced by Abstract Painting. He also studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Dennis’ exhibition history includes The Museum of American Art, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, The Harn Museum of Art, The Portland Museum of Art, The Boca Raton Museum of Art, The Museum of Florida Art, The Elliott Museum and the Court House Cultural Center in Stuart. Dennis’ exhibits in New York include Leo Castelli Gallery, The Bowery Gallery, and presently The First Street Gallery. Dennis received numerous awards for his paintings including the Josef Albers Fellowship to the Skowhegan School, and Thomas Eakins prize from the Pennsylvania Academy. Dennis taught at the Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach until his death in July, 2015. 



About the Armory:

Housed in a historic art deco building, the Armory provides art classes for students of all ages, exhibitions, art salons, lectures, and special events. Nearly 100 courses held in 12 state-of-the-art studios are offered including ceramics, digital arts, drawing, glass fusing, jewelry, painting, printmaking, fibers, sculpture, and 20 exhibitions are hosted annually in four galleries.
