Celebrate Fern Samuels With Retrospective And Art Sale At Lighthouse ArtCenter
Fern Samuels was a prolific artist in varied mediums. Always eager to take chances and experiment with media as well as subject matter, Fern’s creativity was contagious! The Lighthouse ArtCenter celebrates Fern’s artistry with a five day Retrospective Exhibition and Sale beginning on Tuesday, November 8th. A Reception will be held on Thursday, November 10th. A prolific artist for 50 years, Fern Samuels received her Master of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Fern was one of the founders of A.R.C gallery in Chicago, one of the first women’s cooperative art galleries in the U.S. Fern created in a number of different media, including collage, printmaking and painting.

She was an Associate Professor of Art at Columbia College, Chicago. Fern was also a member of the National Association of Women Artists and FLAG Florida Artists Group. She had numerous exhibits in national museums and galleries throughout the U.S. Fern Samuels taught in the university system in the Chicago area before moving to Florida where she promptly became engaged in our local arts community.

Fern was a member of FLAG (Florida Artist Guild) and the NAWA,FL (National Association of Women Artists, Florida Chapter). A prolific artist, she was always willing to take chances and experiment with media as well as subject matter.

Her family, her students, her fellow creatives, and her friends all speak highly of Fern’s enthusiasm for life. The large body of work she left behind is testament to a passionate combination of curiosity and talent.
