Along with the new classes are several exciting Fall Workshops geared to the more serious artist.
BUILDING AN ABSTRACT SERIES: A NEW APPROACH
with visiting artist, Brenda Zappitell
October 8, 9, 10 & 11, 2016 | 9:30 am – 4:30 pm | Fee: $800
Free your abstraction in an unconventional space! This four-day acrylic workshop offers a premiere opportunity to create an abstract series using our 1925 Fieldhouse (a vintage gym) as your studio! This amazing, inspiring space is perfect for creating work in as large a format as you want, with hands-on intensive assistance. Participants create their own abstract series by learning how to paint three or more paintings a day. We will use acrylic paint and “loosening up” exercises to liberate intuitive creativity. Discussion of color theory, composition and suggestions for creating your own “painting process” will also be provided. There will be daily meditation and demonstrations in the workshops.
UNLOCKING CREATIVITY: AN INTENSIVE DREAM WORKSHOP FOR ARTISTS
with resident artist, Dr. Neal Wiseman
Third Saturday each month, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm | Fee: $165
The objective of this six-hour workshop (for all levels) is to learn to turn stress and stagnation into creative excitement and productivity. Our tools are intensive dream work, awareness training, group encounter and psychodrama. Students rediscover feelings of inspiration, energy, and persistence. They learn to feel better about their work and about themselves; they learn to think better and focus more clearly; and they learn to develop the self-discipline they need to help them meet their professional goals.
PAINT YOUR POOCH: PET PORTRAIT WORKSHOP
with resident artist, Nancy Spielman
November 12 & 13, 2016 | 9:30 am – 4:30 pm | Fee: $315
This two-day, oil/acrylic workshop (for all levels) will be about capturing the expressive quality that you find in your four-legged furry friend. Participants will have the opportunity to work from prints of digital photos they have taken of their pet. Nancy Spielman will guide students in the process of painting (and editing) from photos while keeping the paint application fresh and the color rich and bright.
PLEIN AIR PAINTING WORKSHOP
With resident artist, Ralph Papa
December 8, 2016 | 9:00 am – 12:00 pm | Fee: $90
This half-day, oil/acrylic workshop (for all levels) is ideal for improving your ability in sketching and painting outdoors “en plein air”. Included are instructor demonstrations with tips on tools and materials, scene selection, setup, composition, perspective and color selection and mixing followed by a critique and Q&A session. Participants will meet at the Creative Arts School and set up on the grounds of Old School Square. Artists can work in the medium of their choice.
