NEW! ABSTRACT GLASSPRESSIONISM
With Randy Wardell
Saturday April 30th 9am-3pm
$250.00
This class will begin with a visual study of works created by the founders of the Abstract Expressionism movement that emerged in the 40’s & 50’s, during a time of Cold War politics and social conservatism. The style was defined as an unbridled artistic statement of freedom used to convey strong emotional or expressive content. These artists were inspired by the jazz music of their time, often listening to jazz while creating their works. We’ll follow their lead and have some fine jazz playing in the classroom studio to inspire our own Glasspressive content.
Randy will describe and demonstrate a number of decorative glass techniques that are essential for this process including frit stenciling, stringer shaping, wet noodles, powder smears, sifting, stick lighting, cold combing, flyspecking, plus many more. Class includes all materials and one kiln firing. Note: Forming and shaping firings are not included but can be arranged for an additional fee.
