Boca Raton Branch National League of Pen Women Features “Art of The Masters” With Bea Doone-Merena

Join the Boca Raton Branch National League of Pen Women for a delicious luncheon and a one-of-a-kind art program.  Bea Doone-Merena will share the story of her fascinating art career and discuss some of the oil painting techniques that she learned from studying 16th – 18th century Masters of art.  Bea is referred to as  the “Master Painter and Painter of the Masters” because when you see her exquisite creations, you think you are in a museum!  This is a wonderful opportunity to network with other visual artists, performing artists, musicians, composers and authors.  The Rickie Report recommends you make your reservations quickly, as the deadline is April 7th.  Guests are welcome. Bea Doone-Merena is an accomplished artist who has mastered the art of classical realism. Her oil paintings are reminiscent of Bouguereau, Vouet, Lefebvre, Raeburn and other great masters we admire.

As a young girl in grade school, Bea started creating art. She knew back then that art was her calling. Even while raising ten children, Bea pursued her love for painting. Remarkably, she has been teaching herself to master the painting techniques of the Old Masters for years.

Bea currently exhibits her oil paintings in Florida. Her art work has been featured at the Armory Art Center, West Palm Beach; The Palm Beach Cultural Council; Schmidt Gallery at Lynn University, Boca Raton; the Boca Raton Museum Artist Guild, and other venues. She has won numerous awards for her portraits and figure paintings. Articles about Be a and her artwork have been published in The Palm Beach Post and The Sun Sentinel and The Rickie Report.

1.Thai  Chicken Salad – Spicy Thai marinated grilled boneless chicken breast over mixed greens with sesame seeds, snow peas, peppers, bean sprouts, etc., with spicy peanut dressing.

ABOUT NATIONAL LEAGUE OF AMERICAN PEN WOMEN:

The Boca Raton Branch of the National League of American Pen Women is a prestigious organization of professional women in the Arts – Published Writers, Authors, Poets, Musical Composers and Award winning Artists.

 

NLAPW’s corporate headquarters is based in Washington, D.C. and oversees branches all over the United States. The league boasts membership of such prominent women as Eleanor Roosevelt, Erma Bombeck, and local well-known artist Edna Hibel. Vinnie Ream, the only woman to sculpt President Lincoln from life, was an early member of NLAPW. Her statue of Lincoln now stands in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda.

 

The Boca Raton branch is one of the largest in the country and will be celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2015. As a qualified member of Art, Letters or Music, each member is exposed to participation in Art Exhibits, Author Talks and various workshops. On the third Thursday of the month – from November to May – luncheons are held with interesting, informative and entertaining speakers featuring the three Muses ~ Art – Literature – Music!
