Deb LaFogg Docherty Demonstrates at Upcoming Wellington Art Society Meeting
Aspiring artists, emerging artists and seasoned artists are welcome to the next meeting of the Wellington Art Society, when renown wildlife artist, Deb LaFogg Docherty will demonstrate different painting techniques. Deb works in pastels, acrylics and oils. Her award-winning images bring us closer to nature. The Wellington Art Society meetings are wonderful opportunities for artists to not only learn, but network with a supportive group of like-minded creatives. Deb LaFogg Docherty will be the featured demonstrator at the next Wellington Art Society meeting. It will be held on February 11, 2015 at 6:30 PM at their new venue in the gymnasium at Village Park off Pierson Road in Wellington. There will be a meet and greet, followed by a brief meeting and Deb’s demonstration.
Deb LaFogg grew up in Connecticut where as a child she painted woods and swamps near her house. She had no formal training until attending art college, majoring in advertising and illustration. After graduation she moved to Florida and was a free lance photographer taking pictures of Styx, Robert Plant and Steve Marriott of Humble Pie.
She presently works for a newspaper as a special sections designer.
Deb paints daily and loves going out into the field and coming face to face with natures wild animals and scenery. She works in pastels, acrylics and oils and has studied with world renowned pastel artists. In 2011 she received the Masters Circle Award from the International Association of Pastel Societies. She received second place in drawing in a National Wildlife Art competition.
Deb is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, the Pastel Society of North Florida, an associate member of the Society for Animal Artists and an associate member of Audubon Artists and many other societies. Her paintings have been in many shows, galleries and museums around the country and she has been published in many magazines and newspapers.
Deb has illustrated a children’s book called “Woodrat Jill” with part of the proceeds going to preserve the habitat for the endangered Key Largo woodrat. She teaches at the Delray Center for the Arts and is available for commissions. Deb’s paintings are exhibited around the U.S. in National Parks.
The Wellington Art Society is a non-profit charitable organization in its 34th year. It is open to artists of all mediums and patrons of the arts, allowing both local and regional artists to display their art work in local galleries, interact with other artists and serve the community through their art.
