On Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013 at 6pm., noted artist Jean Hutchison will be doing a free demonstration for the Artists of Palm Beach County, guests, and anyone else who wants to come to the Art on Park Gallery, 800 Park Avenue in Lake Park. Gold leaf has traditionally been used as gilding material for the decoration of art (including statues and Eastern Christian icons) or for picture frames that are often used to decorate paintings, mixed media, small objects (including jewelry) and paper art.
An accomplished artist, Jean Hutchison will demonstrate how you can do gold, silver, and copper leafing on any substance – paper, canvas, boxes, or your sneakers – and she will show you how to incorporate the process into your artwork.
Jean, a long time APBC member, was chosen as the featured artist for the gallery’s Summer Exhibit, and her unusual and humorous paintings were hung in the front window.  Her works called “Fashion Evolution” depict beautiful female figures dressed in fashionable outfits standing in interesting poses but with monkey faces and arms.  She says, “Humans have their closest bond with African apes, having split from them in evolutionary terms between five and ten million years ago. However humans regard all primates as similar; their mannerisms, dexterity and mimicry have qualified them to be seen as mirroring all the vices and virtues of human behavior.”  Her work reminds us that we are just primates after all, but she promises no monkey business this time – well, maybe one or two examples.
Come join us, one and all.  Space is limited. Please contact the gallery to pre-register. If you have any questions feel free to call the gallery at(561) 345-2842.
Artists of Palm Beach County serves as the much needed connection between artists and also between artists and the community. Many members are new to Palm Beach County and feel both relieved and excited to find an organization that provides networking opportunities and promotes local artists. It also seems the community at large was in need of an organization such as this. Shortly after the organization formed we began seeing calls coming in from local organizations and individuals that wanted to include local artists in their programming!

For more information please contact: 561-345-2842 or visit www.artistsofpalmbeachcounty.org   or www.artistsofpalmbeachcounty.com  Artists of Palm Beach County is a not-for-profit organization and welcomes new artists to become members.
