“Le Grand Jardin” depicts lush tropical scenery in a series of large oil paintings.  John Rachell is a prolific painter.  His artistry has not been diminished, even after suffering two strokes which left him paralyzed on his right side.  John states, “Life is so marvelous that no matter what the limitations are, you can expand the manifestations of the spirit.”

John shares, ” In the Grand Scheme of life intellect, emotion, desire and pursuits are but threads of the fabric of life. I become the conductor directing a symphony of colors and shapes that weave the fabric that represents my life as an artist. May our symphonies nourish our spirit now and forever.”

Physical therapy three times a week is not enough for John.  He tells us, “My therapy tool is a brush”.   An artist by trade, John took stock of his strengths.  John returned to his passion of painting, teaching himself to paint with his non-dominant hand, which had not been affected by the stroke.
