International Polymer Clay Contest – Start Creating Now!

The Rickie Report is pleased to announce the International Polymer Clay Contest!  Submissions open October 1st, so start creating now!  This is open world-wide and you do not have to be a member of the International Polymer Clay Association.  Cash prizes and awards!  Details in this article.





This juried competition is dedicated to promoting polymer clay globally as a contemporary art form. It also provides a venue for established and emerging artists alike to share their creative endeavors. The International Polymer Clay Awards is open to all artists utilizing polymer clay as a creative medium. This competition will also be accepting cross discipline works. All entries must recognizably demonstrate the use of polymer clay.

IPCA membership isn’t required for entry.

Submissions will be accepted beginning October 1, 2013 .

Dates & Requirements

Number of Entries:
You may submit a maximum of 3 entries.
Each entry may have 2 image views.

Digital Requirements for Entries:
A high resolution JPG file, 300 dpi that does not exceed 800 pixels wide or tall

Category Listing:
-jewelry (functional as well as art to wear)
-functional containers (also includes vessels, receptacles, reliquaries and purses)
-non functional sculpture and figurines
-2 dimensional hanging art (includes painterly approaches as well as mosaic hanging work in polymer clay)

Important Dates:

  • October 1, 2013 – Submissions Open
  • Visit for the link to enter and upload your images.
  • January 20, 2014 – Submissions Close
  • February 1 through 21, 2014 – jurors evaluate work for the exhibition and select category winners along with best of show.
  • March 7 through 21, 2014 – IPCA members vote for “members’ favorite”


April 30 through May 3, 2014:
The Exhibition “Kick Off” and Awards Presentation are scheduled for the 2014 EuroSynergy in Malta.

 The Judges:

Christine Dumont is the founder of Voila!, a Europe-based community website for the world’s polymeristas.  With inspiration from Europe’s cultural heritage, Voila! provides critiquing and creativity courses to help members take their work to new artistic heights. Christine is an award winning artist and teaches internationally. She currently has two masterclasses: “Butterfly Beads” and “Hollow Beads.” Christine is also very active with the IPCA being the program chair for EuroSynergy, a past juror for Progress & Possibilities and a past Publicity Chair for Synergy3 in Atlanta.


Christine Knoke is the Director of Exhibitions & Chief Curator, of the Mingei International Museum.  Christine  joined Mingei International Museum in June 2010, after nearly 15 years at the prestigious Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, California, where she oversaw the Asian art collection and organized exhibition-related special events. A Los Angeles native, she holds a BA in Art History from UCLA and an MA in Art History and Museum Studies from USC. As Director of Exhibitions & Chief Curator at Mingei International Museum, Ms. Knoke oversees the exhibition, registration and education departments. A seasoned professional, she brings enthusiasm and dedication to the museum’s robust exhibition and educational offerings.

Cynthia Tinapple is the founder of the blog Polymer Clay Daily, an eight-year-old showcase for polymer art and a portal for the polymer clay community. She has recently written a book, Polymer Clay Global Perspectives, which features 125 polymer artists from around the world and tracks trends and styles that are influencing the future of this medium.
