How to Pitch a Story to a Jewelry Magazine

Jewelry artists are invited to share their techniques, tips and projects with an internationally distributed magazine.  The Rickie Report hopes you will take advantage of this opportunity – and let us know when you get accepted!

How to Pitch a Story Idea to

Art Jewelry Magazine

1)      Decide what jewelry-making techniques or tips you want to share with readers. (You could do a project, like how to make a ring, in order to teach multiple techniques, or you could teach a general technique, like how to etch metal.)

2)    Make or choose a piece of your jewelry that’s a good example of those techniques, or make samples that illustrate your idea. (So, you’d choose a ring if your project were how to make a ring, or send in an etched panel as a sample that shows your etching technique.)

 3)     Send a couple paragraphs (e-mail or snail mail is fine) outlining your idea (share key points your article will cover or what tips and techniques readers will learn from seeing how you make your jewelry), and include a picture of your jewelry or sample.

Mail to Editor, Art Jewelry at the appropriate address (see below). If you’re sending the actual piece, please let us know how much you’d like the piece insured for upon return.

4)      Sit back and relax. If your story idea is accepted, an editor who is knowledgeable in your field will get in touch with you within a month to walk you through the submission process.
