Wellington Art Society Invites You to Learn How to Photograph Your Work; Meet Scholarship Winners!

The Rickie Report enjoys sharing the latest news from The Wellington Art Society.  Their next meeting is May 8th, so mark your calendars. Meet some emerging artists who just received scholarships from WAS to pursue their art careers – WAS has given five $1,000. scholarships! Plus photographer, Cliff Finley, will talk about how to photograph your art to prepare for Art Show applications.

Wellington Art Society Awards $5000 in scholarships to Palm Beach County Art Students

The W.A.S. meeting will be held Wednesday, May 8th at the Wellington Community Center, 12150 West Forest Hill Blvd. There will be a special presentation spotlighting this year’s scholarship recipients.  This year, for the first time, WAS was able to expand the scholarship program and offer five $1000 scholarships to local art students. The presentation will begin at 6:30.

This year’s recipients are:

Marisa Waddle, Dreyfoos

Taylor Goldenberg, Dreyfoos

Kathia St. Hilaire, Dreyfoos

Lauren Escalada, Seminole Ridge

Cindy Perdomo, Dreyfoos

At 7:00PM, the monthly meeting will begin with an introduction of new members, when they will have an opportunity to show their work, followed by the business meeting. There will a raffle with fabulous items perfect for artists and art lovers, which is open to all attendees. The meeting is open to the public with a guest fee of $5.00, which can be applied to an art society membership.


At 7:30, local photographer Cliff Finley of Finman Photography will discuss the importance of quality images of your artwork and how to photograph them for submission to shows, exhibitions and galleries.


This will be followed with an artist development program discussing the business of marketing your art, including how to create an inventory, the benefits of a website or blog, how to write an artist’s statement and options on how to sell your art.

WAS is a busy group!  In April, thirty-nine paintings created  by twenty-two WAS artists were donated to the Pediatric Unit at Palms West HospitalSince 2008 , over 100 paintings by WAS artists have been created to comfort and inspire the imaginations of the young patients.

At Whole Foods, over  60 people came to the Reception for a wonderful Celebration on WAS artist, Ursula Fernandez.  It was a fun evening together, sharing our support and appreciation of Ursula and each other p plus adding to the WAS Scholarship Fund.

Founded in 1981, The Wellington Art Society is open to artists of all mediums and patrons of the arts, providing both local and regional artists the platform to share their work, learn more about their craft and serve the community through their art. The Wellington Art Society is open to any resident in Palm Beach County. Membership forms will be available if you would like to become a member and your $5 guest fee will be applied toward it.
