The opening reception and awards ceremony will take place March 14 for artists, students, school staff and families. Exhibited artworks can be viewed through May 3 at Boca Raton Community High School, 1501 NW 15th Court, Boca Raton, every Monday thru Friday after 2:30 PM in the main office.

A portion of artwork sales benefit the Boca Museum of Art.

The Artists’ Guild of the Boca Raton Museum of Art continues its nine-year partnership with Boca Raton Community High School to present a juried art exhibit of artworks by Guild members and high school students. For the first time, teachers will also be participating.

This collaborative effort gives high school students the opportunity to work alongside local artists to experience the total exhibition process. “I’ve been making art since 1st grade, and I enjoyed the opportunity to work with professional artists”, said Tatiana de Carvalho, a former student exhibitor. The students enter the exhibition on-line, help with registering their artwork, volunteer to help with hanging and placement of the artwork, and see hands-on how professional artists mount a show.

“We have watched the students grow artistically from mandatory participation as part of their grade within their school curriculum, to eagerly asking to participate and exhibit with the Guild members” said Roni DiSabello past President of the Artists’ Guild. “Working with Boca Raton Community High School and the students has been a wonderful experience for our Guild artists; we are helping to form a future generation of artists.”

“For each exhibition, the educated juror gives a written critique for each student’s artwork. This proves to be a wonderful teaching tool” said Dianna DonFrancisco Artists’ Guild chairperson of the high school show. “They learn and are inspired from viewing other student and professional artists work.”  Originality, craftsmanship, and composition are just some of the qualities looked for in the works selected for this juried show.
