Evolution of Layers: Time…..Paint…..Meaning…..
What will you see when you look at Chisolm’s next series, “Evolution of Layers”? The Rickie Report cannot tell what meaning you should see, but we know that these mixed media pieces will certainly evoke a variety of emotions, thoughts and memories that are personal. Chisolm’s use of materials and color makes you consider the meaning each piece has for you. At the time of year when many of us make “resolutions” for new or changed behaviors, it’s good to take some time to “consider”. This show opens on December 30th with a lovely reception and continues through February 2nd.

Chisolm has been captivated by drawing and creating since his childhood in Mississippi. Happiest when making his own toys and taking art lessons after school, Chisolm was always interested in cultural arts. Starting in high school and later through college he helped support himself as a dance choreographer. His creativity flourished while at the University of Southern MS, which at the time was the only accredited school of arts in the South.
Chisolm participated in a number of art shows and represented the University in many regional competitions. “Man Standing”, a figurative piece, won Best in Show and earned him a full scholarship for the balance of his education.
This show will be based on the next series of work that has evolved from “Layers In Time”. He has titled it, ” Evolution of Layers”, using acrylic paint, plastic and epoxy on canvas.
After a world-wide successful career in the fashion industry, Chisolm returned to his artist roots. While living in Washington, DC he participated in many art exhibitions and solo shows. In September, 2009 he began painting full time. JF Gallery in W. Palm Beach showcased his work in a solo exhibition in January, 2011. Currently his work is available through DTR Modern Gallery and Liman Gallery both in Palm Beach,FL. Studio 1608 of West Palm Beach, FL and the Philip Morton Gallery of Rehoboth Beach, DE also represent his work. Chisolm has also been chosen as one of the artists of Palm Beach County’s Art in Public Spaces. One of his pieces is currently hanging at the Palm Beach International Airport between concourse A & B.
