The Rickie Report knows that to truly appreciate her artistry, you have to see Lisa Kraemer’s “Tree” in person! Clay Glass Metal Stone Gallery is proud to introduce you to Lisa Kraemer, their first of many invited guest artists. Lisa is a resident of West Palm Beach. She has become a fixture in the ceramics community.

Clay Glass Metal Stone Cooperative Gallery

Presents

Lisa Kraemer, Guest Artist

April and May

15 South J. Streets, Lake Worth

Clay Glass Metal Stone Gallery welcomes Lisa Kraemer as guest artist for the months of April and May. Lisa is the first local guest artist to be invited to display in a prominent position at the front of the gallery. This will begin a tradition of guest artists in the gallery’s new home at 15 South J. Street in Downtown Lake Worth.

Lisa is a self-taught artist of great passion and skill. Her works in clay are seen in shows and galleries throughout the county. She is well known to her sister and brother ceramic artists at the right hand assistant to Betty Wilson, owner/director of the Craft Gallery, West Palm Beach’s center of learning in clay and fused glass techniques. Lisa assists and attends the many workshops at the Craft Gallery absorbing great technique and knowledge from the wide range of teaching artists. This she has translated into hundreds of works that are wanted by collectors throughout the Palm Beaches.

The Guest Piece displayed in the Clay Glass Metal Stone Cooperative Gallery is that of a nearly seven foot tall tree. It is crafted from clay with branches and twigs. Following the Mexican Huichol Indian tradition, the clay is then wound in a yarn pattern giving it texture and life. The yarn, in this case, is an off-white color. This gives it the appearance of the majestic bleached trees of the forests that stand in memory of their past life. Roosting on the branches are white ghosts of birds past. This is, indeed, a dramatic and powerful exhibit.

Visitors to the gallery are welcome to come in and view this remarkable work of art along with all of the other creations of local artists, members of the gallery. Until purchased, the tree will be on exhibit through the end of May.

ClayGlassMetalStone Cooperative Gallery is sponsored by the Flamingo Clay Studio, a non-profit arts organization whose mission is to provide affordable studio and gallery space for three-dimensional artists. The gallery is located at 15 South J Street in downtown Lake Worth. Hours are Sunday thru Tuesday, 10AM-5PM. Wednesday thru Saturday, 10AM-10PM. Gallery openings are the first and third Friday of each month from 6-9 PM with many special events in-between. For information call Joyce Brown-215-205-9441 or JCLay6@aol.com. Gallery phone: 561-588-8344.

Child’s Play: Rock, Paper, Scissors, is one of the first learning games we engage in as children. We take chances using our fists and fingers; we learn strategies as we scrutinize our opponents, trying to out-maneuver their next ploy. Add “Paint” to the mix and we attain the building blocks, the very basis of a child’s entry into the cognitive and creative world of exploration and knowledge.

Clay, Glass Metal Stone Gallery’s newest artists have taken these, the simplest of materials, and have finessed them to the highest of art forms. Emilio Aponte-Sierra and Steve Brouse will be featured on Friday, May 17 from 6-9 PM with a Wine, Cheese and Dessert opening at the Gallery’s new location, 15 South J Street in Downtown Lake Worth.

Handbag

Emilio Aponte-Sierra has made his entire life’s work an art form, manipulating the most basic of materials into astonishing creations of great depth and character. In his work as Guidance Counselor, he uses his art forms as expressions of his concerns for HIV/AIDS prevention. His striking images hit hard with message and symbolism, yet transcend as works that stand on their own beyond the message. His unique cuts, folds and interlacings roll and twist as recycled papers create life-sized figures. These forms, encased in Lucite boxes have become a focal point of J Street’s newest gallery. Emilio arrived here (Palm Beach) from Valledupar, Colombia via Miami. Neither Rocks nor Paint, but Paper and Scissors are his language of creation.

Moon Bubbles

Lake Worth artist Steve Brouse takes his Paper, Scissors and Rocks and turns them into wondrous and magical creations with the use of bright and intricate paint designs. Like the child who first starts to paint, covers the paper, then her feet, then her hands and works her way up her body to the walls and floors (before daddy catches her), Steve’s paintings may start on flat surfaces but they then pour off onto shoes and tables and cars and walls…and, oh well, Steve will paint on anything.

Sea – N – Shore

His child-like color combinations belie the amazing imagery filled with whimsy, filled with fun and filled with delight. His use of color brightens up the world around him bringing an unexpected sense of joy upon a chance encounter. Steve’s works welcome the approaching long days of summer and brighten up the dark nights of winter.

Taylor Loughlin is a figurative oil painter and emerging artist from the St. Lucie area. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Flagler College in 2011. She has been a recipient of the Academic Achievement Award in Art and Design from Flagler College and John’s Island Community Service League Scholarship. She took second place in a Student Juried Show at the Crisp-Ellert Art Museum in 2010 and won the “Uncle Reg – Pass It on Award” from the A.E. Backus Gallery Student Juried Show in 2006.

Taylor Loughlin interned with Flagler College in a restoration of paintings done by George W. Maynard. She worked with students from the Escuela Superior de Arte del Principado de Asturias of Spain, who traveled from Aviles, Spain to restore the original ceiling paintings in the Dining Hall of Flagler College. As an intern, Loughlin worked close with the other students, on 40 foot scaffolding, to reattach falling paint and patch up spots where the paint was worn away. Taylor also interned with the Vero Beach Art Museum summer camp programs for children interested in the arts and she has volunteered at various art programs for children in South Florida and Saint Augustine,FL.

Taylor Loughlin currently works and lives in St. Lucie County where she works on her newest collection of paintings. She focuses on highly saturated skin tones and how far the flesh in an image can be pushed to show color variation. She is interested in how the figure is portrayed and the colors that make up the skin tones. Her current work is a study of the figure’s interaction with water—how the form is morphed under the water and how blue tones affect the skin.

Taylor tells us, “The ebb and flow of water dictates how an object appears within it. The element of water changes how an object appears below the surface and becomes an intriguing visual experience for the viewer. The image may appear broken, foreshortened, or even morphed. This illusion creates a visual experience, forcing the eye and brain to decipher what it sees. The fragmentation of the image interacting with water is both puzzling and beautiful. My work involves mixing highly saturated skin tones with blue hues to illustrate the intricacies of how the flesh and water interact”.
