Each year since 1995 approximately a dozen different homeowners in Grandview Heights have opened their homes to the public for the neighborhood’s annual Historic Home Tour.  This tour offers visitors a unique opportunity to step inside historic homes in the neighborhood and meet the creative owners. Grandview Heights boasts historic properties in a variety of architectural styles, with Craftsman Bungalow and Spanish Mission styles dominating. Neighborhood residents bring many different backgrounds and perspectives to their homes and to the neighborhood.  The Home Tour highlights the immense diversity of Grandview Heights and demonstrates that an urban neighborhood can successfully include and engage a disparate population.

This Sunday, Don’t Miss New Work Exhibited by Chisolm!

Chisolm Art Studio/Gallery is premeiring a new exhibit, “Color on Color” December 29th.  The Rickie Report is sharing a sneak peek with our readers!  Will you see the gestures from the artist’s hand within these colorful abstract paintings?  More details about the exhibit are in this article.

Art Studio/Gallery

Presents

“Color on Color”

Sunday, December 29, 2013

1:00 – 4:00 pm

By Appointment after opening

Art Studio/Gallery

502 Palm Street, Suite 3   West Palm Beach, FL

On Sunday, December 29, 2013, a public opening will be held to showcase the newest art pieces by Chisolm.  You won’t want to miss this colorful exhibit with Chisolm, a community-based contemporary artist!  Chisolm Art Studio/Gallery is located at 502 Palm Street, Suite 3 in West Palm Beach, FL.   The Opening Reception takes place from 1 -4 pm.  The public is invited.

photo 3

Chisolm describes his most current paintings “as ‘gestures’… the very first lines made on the canvas by my movement.  When viewers need to see something in a painting, they often revert to letters and numbers.  I use my handwriting in the title and to describe the work to some.”

photo 1

These paintings evoke a number of styles, incorporating Chisolm’s previous techniques  in  “Layers of Time” and “small works”.

photo 2

While attending the University of Southern Mississippi he participated in a number of art shows and represented the university in many local and regional competitions.  “Man Standing”, a figurative piece, won best in show and earned him a full scholarship to the University for the balance of his education.

After a world wide successful career in the cosmetics industry, Chisolm returned to his artist roots.  While living in Washington, DC he participated in many art exhibitions and solo shows.  In September, 2009 he began painting full time.  JF Gallery in West Palm Beach showcased his work in a solo exhibition in January 2011.  Chisolm has been chosen as one of the artists of Palm Beach County’s Art in Public Spaces.

Chisolm shares, “My mission is to show energy, movement  and power in every piece of my art.  Working with my passion and the movement of my body I create bold paintings that are often layered with contrast”.
Chisolm is currently showing at DTR Modern Galleries, Palm Beach, FL. and Philip Morton Gallery in Rehoboth Beach, DE, as well as his own gallery, Chisolm Art Studio/Gallery in West Palm Beach, FL.

photo 4

At a recent sneak peek, The Rickie Report overheard one art-lover say, “The brightness and layering in Chisolm’s contemporary art brings me into the actual painting.  This is work where you can be contemplative and energized at the same time.”

ChisolmArt Studio/Gallery is located at 502 Palm St. Suite 3  West Palm Beach, FL 33401.  For more information call 561.267.7720 or visit www.chisolm-art.net
