The AR Gallery at 340 NE 4 Street in Delray Beach, FL will open its doors to a summer group show, to include guest  International Artist Brigitte Balbinot on July 17  from 6 – 9PM.  The exhibit titled ‘A Summer Night’ will feature some of Balbinot’s latest works, including paintings from her most recent series Minority which was recently featured at the Cornell Museum of Art in Florida.

Swiss by birth, Brigitte Balbinot is now based in South Florida and travels regularly to the Province of Quebec where she also maintains an art studio. Her work, simple and complex all at the same time, reflects a minimalist approach. Each piece of artwork comprises 30-40 layers of oil paint. The use of various mediums allows the Artist to create rich textures and interesting visual affects that translate her unique vision onto the canvas.

"Joy" by Brigitte Balbinot Oil/Wax on Canvas 18x 18

“Joy” by Brigitte Balbinot                              Oil/Wax on Canvas 18x 18

In her statement, Balbinot says: “I favor abstract painting and use a minimalistic approach in my work. To me simplicity is about bringing order to complexity. When the work is streamlined, it enables the mind to expand. Only then can imagination happen. I love depth and textures; they remind me of what once was.”

"Marrakech" by Brigitte Balbinot Oil/Resin on canvas 20 X 20

“Marrakech” by Brigitte Balbinot                Oil/Resin on canvas 20 X 20

Brigitte goes on to say, “The philosophy Wabi-Sabi from the Zen Buddhist culture that is centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection plays a definite role in my creative process. My paintings sometimes appear to be “scarred” and “worn”, survivors of a long journey having a story to tell… Working with oil paint, pigments and various mediums allow me to create a work that is rich in substance and interesting to look at. I prefer to work large as it creates a stronger focal point that captures the viewer’s attention.”

"Angelized" by Brigitte Balbinot Oil/Resin on Canvas 24 x 24

“Angelized” by Brigitte Balbinot                  Oil/Resin on Canvas 24 x 24

In a review by Carrie Turner, editor of Fine Art Views (March, 2013), art critic Brian Sherwin is cited, “The compositional structure and use of raw texture in Balbinot’s paintings allow the imagination of the viewer to decipher meaning based on what he or she brings, psychologically speaking, to the viewing experience”.

Tullos Studios

TULLOS STUDIOSSteve Blackwood, whose work is displayed at Cacace Fine Art, has created a beautiful studio building called Tullos Studios. This is the blue building that houses pioneer Amanda Johnson’s space. At the Blackwood Studio you’ll find Steve’s working studio along with the stained glass studio of Carola Blackwood and a pleasant studio gallery. In the studio gallery, Diane Carter will be showing her intimate nature photography and there will be a retrospective exhibit of the reverse-painted windows of outsider artist Mark Adams. We’re also delighted to welcome the talents of the painters, Ona Steele and Jan Murphy who have set-up their new studios in Tullos Studios.   Another great addition to the alley is the beautiful new space of Pat Kaufman in the back of Ian Levinson’s Cloud House Pottery.

A New Home For Art: Amy Reshefsky Gallery Opens in Artists Alley

The Rickie Report is pleased to announce that Amy Reshefsky has opened her own gallery in Artists Alley in Delray Beach, FL.  She is inviting the public to a special Open House on April 5 & 6th.  Recently interviewed on CBS News Channel 12, we hope you will stop by to meet Amy and see the wide variety of her work!

Amy Reshefsky is an artist whose abstract acrylic paintings express her vision, moods, sophistication, and life experiences. Amy hails from New York and New Jersey, although she spent much of her adult life in Florida where she raised her children. She now spends some of her time with her husband in Mont Tremblant, Quebec, Canada.

It was there that she found her freedom to express herself with paint.  Amy has discovered how to use materials other than canvas to express her creativity. Reclaimed wood in unusual shapes and textures as well as glass panels and tabletops have become her favorites.

She tells The Rickie Report, “I discover new things about myself and the creative process nearly every day,” she admits.
We love her use unique gift for color and style, which transfers easily from wood, to glass and canvas.  Her range is wide and The Rickie Report believes people will easily find a piece of artwork they gravitate toward.
