Scot Buccina was raised in Rumford, Maine and completed his Master’s in sculpting at FSU. Scot’s award winning works in Manzanita Burl and in Alabaster make his unique designs popular with private patrons.
The sculptor, Scot Buccina, was raised in an Italian family, born of parents whose families immigrated to the White Mountains of Maine from Tuscany and Calabria, respectively. Trained in the classical arts, he studied at the University of Maine for his Undergraduate degree, and received a Teaching Assistantship in Studio Sculpture at Florida State University, where he earned is Masters in Art History and Studio Art (sculpture). Scot appreciates the talents of the great masters of stone sculpture including Michelangelo, Brancusi, Donatello, and Henry Moore, to name a few. He draws inspiration from their level of finesse. Scot has been honing his craft utilizing various media for some 25 years and has completed award winning works in stone, alabaster, and wood. His Master’s collection included abstract, yet functional musical instruments sculpted from various hard woods. A later collection in Burl wood captured awards and acclaim. Today, his works may include bronze and clay. He frequently receives awards at shows throughout the country.
Scot gathers inspiration from the world around him. Whether it is the human figure, the images of nature, or the shapes he sees around him, his work reflects the inspiration he draws from them. His greatest inspiration comes from the patron who also loves his work and wants to live with and enjoy his sculpture in their home, office, yacht, etc.
Scot often finds his inspiration for a sculpture in the raw stone itself, drawing a mental image of a piece from a rough, colorless stone, before the chisel is set to strike. Scot is widely recognized in South Florida as a preeminent source for sculpture refinishing and repair, called upon often to help rehabilitate broken and scratched sculptures. His beautiful pieces begin at $300 and he is available for special commissions.

Scot’s working studio is located in the Hobe Sound Marine Village on US 1 in Hobe Sound, Florida. The Marine Village is a fitting location for him to work as much of his recent inspiration comes from the marine life that abound in the tropical waters of Florida, and he has produced and sold a large body of marine life sculpture.
