The Rickie Report is always intrigued when multi-tasking includes an art exhibit!  Stop by Whole Foods in Wellington to meet local artist, Bobbin Salisbury and see her exhibit.

October is a busy month for the Wellington Art Society!  Wellington Art Society (WAS) member, Bobbin Salisbury will have a solo show at the Whole Foods Market in Wellington.  The show runs through November 30.

A reception in Bobbin’s honor will be held at Whole Foods Market cafe on

Friday, October 5 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. RSVP to Whole Foods at 904-4000.

The Cafe is located on the left side of the store.

Bobbin works in watercolors and will have 14 paintings in this show. Her attention to detail and layer of colors makes each painting come alive.  She shares, “Most of my education has been self taught. I believe the love my Dad had for the sea was what influenced many of my paintings.  As a child we would visit the boat docks and dream of which boat he would buy.  As a teenager Dad started buying boats from little to big.  My “Un-named Boats” became my first public painting as it was used as the front page for the school district.  In its original frame it still looks like the boat docks”.

If you are wondering about the Nickname, her Dad gets credit, as she describes herself  hopping (bobbin) around the playpen. And she continues to jump around the beaches and boat docks whenever and wherever she can!  The free spirit in Bobbin looks for beauty in all things.  Very often her Dad joins she and her husband Gary and the three enjoying the local marine fare here in Florida as well as any beach or boat dock.   She tells, “you can find me in my home studio, painting , and creating using mediums of all kinds…especially watercolor!!!  Most of my young adult years were spent raising my family of five children.  It wasn’t easy using oils with little ones. The drying time and the clean up was too toxic, so for my sanity and the safety of the children I had to find another way to paint…..hence WATERCOLOR….fast drying and easy clean up”.

Bobbin later joined the Palm Beach Watercolor Society, the Delray Art League and the Wellington Art Society. She has exhibited with all and was recently re-elected to Second Vice President of the WAS.  Bobbin has an  A.A.  Degree from Nassau Community College in Mineola, N.Y.  She speaks of early instructors who stimulated her passion…”I studied privately with Dodi Skevitz, classes at the Women of the Visual Arts Studio in Delray Beach.  The Armory offered a wonderful class with Gerri Katz which was also very informative.,  A  favorite workshop was with Max Mueller at the Cornell Museum and various classes at Boca Museum and other private lessons with Carol Brody.  Always expanding my outlook on Art a new techniques”!

“Recently I was asked to teach a class called “Watercolor with a Splash”, A Wet on Wet technique I use to open the imaginations of  my students.  I also teach Beginning and Intermediate  traditional Watercolor Classes.  As I began to market my classes I found many people want to paint, but not dedicate a career in learning.  So I created “Paint~A~Party”  a fun 2 hour class where each student will completer a 16×20 acrylic  painting.  Whether at your house or mine, I will guarantee a FUN  time”.
