The Rickie Report hopes you will go to the Wellington Art Society’s Open House, meet some other like-minded creative people and join this group. There are many opportunities to show your work as a member of WAS!

First Meeting of the Season – Open House For the Public
The first regular meeting of the 2012-2013 season for the Wellington Art Society promises to be a great one, showcasing our many artists and unveiling the calendar filled with events, lectures and artist demonstrations.
This evening is a chance for artists and art lovers to hear about the exciting new offerings that the Wellington Art Society has planned for the coming year. Fabulous artwork is on display in the Society’s new exhibit space at the Wellington City Hall. These original works are available for sale and are rotated quarterly. The art society also has ongoing exhibitions at the Wellington Whole Foods that feature art society members for a three month long show.

Refreshments will be served beginning at 6:00pm and there will a raffle that is open to all attendees. At 6:15 there will be a special presentation by the city to 14 local students that will receive congressional certificates that were awarded by Congressman Ted Deutch for an art show they participated in which was sponsored by the city. Each year the Wellington Art Society awards scholarships to Palm Beach County graduating seniors that will be attending art schools All monies raised by WAS go towards these scholarships.
The general meeting begins at 7:00PM when the year’s calendar will be revealed, which includes calls to artists, workshops, exciting demonstrations by well-know artists and opportunities to create an even better art community. This year, WAS will also present ArtFest on the Green, a 2-day event with artist and vendors from around the county. The event will be held January 5 and 6, 2013 at the Wellington Amphitheater. Founded in 1981, The Wellington Art Society is open to artists of all mediums and patrons of the arts, providing both local and regional artists the platform to share their work, learn more about their craft and serve the community through their art. The Wellington Art Society is open to any resident in Palm Beach County. Membership forms will be available at the Open House if you would like to become a member.
A 501(c)(3) charitable organization, its mission is to educate and encourage originality and productivity among its members and area youth through programs designed to further the advancement of cultural endeavors in the western communities.
