Broward Cultural Division invites interested Broward-based artists to a workshop for the First Cycle of the Creative Investment Program, offered on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. in the Broward County Main Library, Cybrary Computer Lab, 7th Floor, 100 S. Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale.

The purpose of the Creative Investment Program is to assist eligible Broward-based practicing professional artists to fund small but complete cultural projects in Broward County, for which applicants have not received funding through any other Cultural Division incentive program. The project must be an exhibition, a performance or other arts activity. The workshop will also prepare applicants on how to submit an online application.

Recent examples of artists who have been funded include Frank Crowley for Doing Business As…Exhibit; Andrea Huffman forNature Revealed: Florida Wildlife through Fiber Art; Anastasia Clark for Broward County Poet in Residence Anastasia Clark Presents: Our Poetic Tribute to Amelia Earhart; and Liora Goldfield-Davis for Postcards from Europe.

Broward-based practicing professional artists, eighteen (18) years or older, residing in Broward County, who have lived continuously in Broward County for the immediate 12 consecutive months prior to the filing date of application, may apply. The program supports eligible artists who have created a recognized body of original works of art within an artistic discipline over a sustained period of time, and pursue this work as a means of livelihood and/or a way to achieve the highest level of professional recognition. A Broward-based artist may apply for up to $2,000 per award on a funds-available basis.

The next Creative Investment Program application deadline is October 1, 2012 for projects implemented after December 1, 2012. There is no fee for the workshop. For more information, please call Adriane Clarke, grants specialist, 954-357-7530.

This project is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.  The National Endowment for the Arts was established in 1965 as an independent agency of the federal government. To date, the NEA has awarded more than $4 billion to support artistic excellence, creativity and innovation for the benefit of individuals and communities. The NEA extends its work through partnerships with state arts agencies, local leaders, other federal agencies, and the philanthropic sector.
